Jessica Sherwood practices family law, estate litigation, and criminal defense at Smith Strong, PLC.

Jessica appears weekly in the Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Circuit Courts throughout central Virginia. 

As a former prosecutor specializing in juvenile and domestic violence cases, Jessica is passionate about helping families in times of great need. She is committed to empowering individuals to reclaim their life and start the next chapter.

After working in criminal law, Jessica transitioned into family law at a highly reputable firm in the Tidewater Virginia area where she handled matters pertaining to divorce, property division, custody, child support, spousal support, civil litigation, and protective orders. 

Jessica is skilled at negotiation and enjoys navigating complex legal problems. She is a tireless advocate both in and out of court, working to ensure clients’ outcomes are met. 

Prior to attending law school, Jessica worked as a Communication Strategist in South Florida for non-profit, building contextualized children’s programs to meet specific needs in a given area or city. Her experience led her to pursue a career in advocacy.

Jessica graduated from Regent University’s School of Law and earned her undergraduate degree in Public Relations and French from Oral Roberts University. 

While in law school, Jessica served as a clerk for the Center for Global Justice and competed on the Trial Advocacy Team, placing first at Stetson’s National Pretrial Competition. 

Jessica lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and their dog, Milo. When Jessica is not litigating in court, she enjoys planting, good eats, and travel.
